Hey, Grandpa

What is the purpose of life?

After retiring, Shingo Niimi (Yasokichi Soganoya) was living a lonely life with a hole in his heart. His only comfort was drinking with his drinking buddies Kudo (Shoichi Taga) and Takemoto (Kojiro Fujita), but he never felt truly refreshed. One day, the three were reminiscing about the past at the izakaya run by Yukie (Momoka Godai) as usual. Suddenly, a high school student (Nonno Maeda) who called herself "Aoi" appeared. Aoi was a friend of Saeko's (Iroha Soganoya) nephew, who worked at the izakaya, who he had met on social media.

"I'm looking for my grandpa."

Aoi lost her mother, who raised her alone, to illness, and came to Osaka, relying on only a little information, out of fear that she would no longer have any family left in the world.

After hearing Aoi's story, each of the three begins to panic, wondering if Aoi could be their granddaughter.
Eventually, the unknown truth about Niimi's past begins to come to light.
With the people watching getting involved, the grandson and his uncle create a funny, heart-wrenching, modern-day Kamigata human comedy.
