"What? Music made with straws?"
A delightful concert full of wonder and surprise!
Ordinary straws are transformed into instruments that produce surprisingly beautiful sounds. Toru Kamiya, the world's only musician who plays music using straws, will present a diverse range of music, from children's songs to classical and enka (Japanese ballads). A variety of unique straw instruments will appear one after another, including those that create beautiful harmonies in duets and trios, and those that move playfully in time with the music. "Can it really make that sound?" "The instrument moves?" This concert will bring smiles to the faces of children and adults alike, as everyone is amazed and entertained.

Toru Kamiya
Graduated from the Department of Astrophysics, Faculty of Science, Kyoto University. He has been active as a recorder player, primarily in Baroque music, with the Telemann Chamber Orchestra and others, and has taught recorder at Osaka College of Music for approximately 40 years.
Since around 1980, he has been creating and performing with straw flutes, producing a succession of unique instruments ranging from those that produce rich harmonies to those that move playfully in time with the music. His performances, full of surprise and laughter, are well-regarded as performances that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from children to adults, and he is active both domestically and internationally.
