Secret Beauty: Everything about Komura Setsudai
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Komura Setsudai (1887-1940) was an artist active from the Taisho to early Showa periods. His wide-ranging work included Japanese painting, book design, illustrations, film art research, and stage sets. He earned the nickname "Showa's Harunobu" for his elegant, emotive style. This exhibition will explore Setsudai's artistic career through the lens of his connections with people, highlighting his interactions and collaborations with numerous literary figures, including Izumi Kyoka, Japanese painters such as Matsuoka Eikyu, publishers, and stage performers. We hope to explore how Setsudai's artistic world was born out of mutual respect for each other's work and build a new image of him. We hope you will come to the exhibition to enjoy all of Setsudai's artistic work, which he loved and was loved by.
