Farewell Osaka Shochikuza: Special Masterpiece Screening
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Arc de Triomphe of Dotonbori,
A Final Glow on the Screen
Osaka Shochikuza will be hosting the "Goodbye Osaka Shochikuza: Special Masterpiece Screening."
This year's festival will feature a selection of Western classics, including "Gone with the Wind" and "The Bodyguard," as well as "Cinema Paradiso" and "The Last Emperor," all of which have previously screened at the Osaka Shochikuza.
Japanese films will include Yoshitaro Nomura's "Ceramics of the Sand," a grand-scale portrayal of human destiny and the bond between parent and child; Yasujiro Ozu's "Tokyo Story," which quietly explores the primal landscape of the Japanese psyche through the portrayal of family; and Yoji Yamada's "It's Tough Being a Man" series, which has brought laughter and tears to the nation. Additionally, we will be presenting timeless Shochiku classics, including Kinji Fukasaku's "Kamata March," which depicts the passion and love of film of those who live on the silver screen. We will also be screening Space Battleship Yamato: Warriors of Love, a historic masterpiece that transcends the boundaries of animation and raises social awareness of anime as a grand sci-fi romance.
Enjoy a selection of masterpieces worthy of the Osaka Shochikuza's final film screening.
